As I feel the cilice/twine work is coming to a natural conclusion as a standalone body of work I would like to move my focus onto another textiles project. I want to look at the bag as an object and see where I can take it. I've been working on ideas surrounding construction as its something I've played with before and I want to use the bag as a motif for these experiments as it has a loose definition that I can have creative control with. I will begin by experimenting with creating my own bags free hand using the knowledge of construction I have and then start to look at patterns for more complex and fleshed out designs such as the Jack Tar bucket bag and the Costermonger Bag. Looking back at my work on the Maison Margiela I want to explore ways the bags can be deconstructed/reconstructed as this will add a preformative element to the work. In terms of material I want to use blank canvas that I manipulate experimentally with a wide variety of mediums influenced by S.R. Studio as this will bring 'painting' into my work which I am yet to explore at university.
