'CILICE'

'CILICE' was created from a line of enquiries into the cilice (blog-post: '22.09.21'). The idea was to create something based on historical objects and traditions with influence from my own material practise. This piece was created using jute twine with the intention of creating irritability if worn. This piece is intended to be worn as a way to embody the material and connect with the object. The uncomfortably is something I'm interested in as I feel it creates questions about the materialistic aspects of the piece.
