'SPIRITUAL/PHYSICAL'

Entitled 'SPIRITUAL/PHYSICAL' this work consists of twenty-four high-heat fired ceramic tiles with fluted detailing linked together with a structure of jute twine and hung in a grid of 6x4. This work explores the parallels between 16th century German Maximilian armour and Christian repentance clothing (Cilice). Protection of life/health and protection from God/sin. This work came from two separate explorations focused on making but then merged on a contextual level. Taking from different times and locations and transposed into a contemporary setting.
