'(Odé á) ST. RICHARD'

Entitled '(Odé á) ST. RICHARD' this work consists of three high-heat fired ceramic chalices, a Victorian cupboard, figs, a jute twine cilice and a chalice cloth. This piece comes from my key interest in the stories of Saints, which began with seeing works about Saint Sebastian. I’m fascinated by the visual attributes of Saints and wanted to create something that used these to explore object values. The use of a cabinet as a plinth is a nod to ideas of antiquity/archaeology which is a heavy feature of this collection of works.
