I'm definitely getting somewhere interesting with my experimentation using my glazed ceramics. I created the pieces 'VESSEL+TWINE' and 'VESSEL+TWINE 002' using the visual and practical ques I've picked up during my research into the ampulla. These pieces came from wanting to create something with the ceramics I weren't excited by as a way to bring life into them. Using a dressmakers mannequin I placed the ceramic in a place that sat right and built up a series of knots and weaves creating structure as well as decoration. The materialistic value is very purposeful in these pieces as it turns the preciousness of the original object on its head with the use of rough jute twine and rough 'kitsch' coloured ceramic. This 'kitsch-ness' is something aesthetically I really enjoy but I struggle employing it into my work effectively as It usually clashes with my style. I would like to use see if I could some more direct reference to 'kitsch' objects in my work from things like Toby/character jugs, Stafforshire dogs and Mirano clowns.

Also as I've been working on our degree show booklet I'm starting to develop my skills in Photoshop and InDesign. I've been messing around with possible postcard/poster/print option as another item to sell in the shop and am really enjoying how they are coming out but this is just a side project for now as we are so far away from the show. I have however been thinking about a different way I could do my business cards for the show as a nod to one of my favourite aspects of Maison Margiela, their show invitations. I wanted to print them on something like scrap fabric or maybe have an ink stamp with blank cards that visitors stamp themselves. I just want something that adds to the whole vibe of my exhibition as I want my space to be an engaging, multi-sensory experience.
