Over the last few days my project has really come together in my head and I'm starting to but the links together. I've had to change some of my ideas when it comes to plinths and display because of the cost. I originally planned on making wood plinths of unpainted OSB board but the cost was beginning to rack up so I went for a cheaper and now I think better design using steel rods and OSB to created these stilted minimal plinths using the raw material and inspired by Raf Simmons graduate 'Corpo' collection.
One of the ideas i'm pretty set on is my ode to Chichester and is based on St. Richard of Chichester and the object imagery associated with him. I plan to take these objects away from the figure to play with the idea of association. I want to create a ceramic chalice because of the story of St. Richard dropping a chalice of communion wine and it not spilling a drop as this is the most well known story of him. I also want to include the cilice work as h was known to wear one and figs as he was known to cultivate them. The materials I use for this piece will help link all the work together as well as the introduction of a temporary element in the figs is something I've always wanted to play with.
