Using random ropes that I've sourced I've been replacing the twine and playing with contrast within my pot and its been really successful so far and definitely think I will include it in my degree show. The reason for this contrast is to bring the work into the present, into a contemporary world not be stuck in the past. I want the work within dirt (something I'm still playing with) to have an ambiguity about whether its being dug up or buried playing with the archaeological aspect of my work. I have also been struggling with the incorporation of the cross pattern in my work and creating a piece dedicated to it because every progression I have made has come out flat. I plan to take it back to it origins and produce a large fabric piece with the original pattern on it as I feel it was the most successful element of the work so far and sometimes the first thing made can be the best option. Sometimes a piece of fabric hung is all a work need such as Barry Flanagan's 'June '69' and a huge range of the work of Karla Black.
