My work has been slowly coming to a close over the last few weeks, finalising and reassuring ideas I was unsure about. The fabric work has changed since exploring the fragmentation and has reverted back to the simple hung squares of fabric. I went ahead and got the British linen and calico with the pattern printed slightly bigger as the smaller crossing were pointed out several times as being too much and I agree. I also decided against the faux silk as the synthetic material was not going to be intentional which bothered me. The linen and calico work really well together as they tonally work well. I experimented with setting up the 'Odé á St. Richard' work and all my doubts went away and the piece worked really well as a whole especially with the addition of the larger chalice I just need to decide on the addition of dirt or to leave it to the other piece and the amount of figs that'll work best. The tile piece is something I'm struggling to visualise and think I'm going to wait till I'm in the space to create the twine elements and connections as a nod to my early research in the 'Mono-ha' and 'not-making'.
I also created my business cards using the cross pattern as my back image which worked really well. I also used the textured linen paper as a link back the the hung fabric work. My exhibition statement is something I'm debating as because I have a standard 250 word statement but I feel like the 'Notes on Object(s)' piece is what really summarises the work best so I might just use the typewritten version as the statement. Everything else for the degree show is pretty much ready and I'm just looking forward to the setup and seeing all the work coming together.
