Continuing the setup is going really well. I began this week with the dirt element of the 'main' piece. I wanted to start with this as this is the piece that all the other works need to work around. This started off quite contained but after some feedback the note was taken that it need to extend into the centre of the room more to allow the viewer to see it from multiple angles. After I was happy with the rough form I cleaned up the edges with a brush and played with the different heights of the dirt to add layers. I then hung the net structure like I planned from the corner and draped the extended rope throughout the dirt burying certain areas. This was visually sticking to me the way the dark dirt contradicted the white nylon rope and didn't need to change much once I started. The only doubt is the purposefulness of the net and whether or not it looked out of place. This is something I will sit on over the next few days. I then collected my vessels and placed them next to the dirt in the rough area I wanted them. This was to test out the density and this too came together pretty quickly and didn't need much change. They were then placed in dirt at different angles and it worked very well. All I need to now do with this piece is add the scented oil and create the dirt pattern.
I also hung my fabric pattern work and this piece was pretty straight forward. Just nailed by the corner next to each other. This really helped fill the space nicely and the piece worked really nicely and also didn't need much done to it apart from touching up. I finished the setup day by assembling my St. Richard piece and which worked so much better in the space than my test of the work. The piece also doesn't feel out of place alongside the others as I thought it would. Although still stuff to do the general feel is there and everything bounces of each other really well. The space gives me the feel of early Martin Margiela all white showroom because of its minimal palette and composition.
