Final Thoughts

This project entitled '((Removed Objects)) - ((Enhanced Objects))' I think will be hugely influential on my future work as an artist. I've discovered a way of working that speaks to my loves of history and material. Blending the two is something that started in my second year with the wax body of work and has slowly adapted into this project. Coming into this project I described my practise as 'research informing my material and material informing my research' but now I use the term 'referential material language'. This honing in on an idea and concept is a good summery of this year. I feel I have found the themes and way of working that engages me best. I feel the outcomes for this body of work have been my most successful yet. They use this idea of visual referencing away from context existing within these ambiguous objects. I want my viewer to feel a sense of familiarity but not being able to pinpoint it. A mixture of reference points blurring the works in a time and place. Another key aspect of this work I particularly enjoyed was the concept of 'function to the point of unpractical' which was one of the big aspects of the '((UNEARTHED)) VESSELS' piece as a way to enforce this ambiguity of the objects.
